Rt. Rev. Pradeep Kumar Samantaroy installed as the Moderator of the Church of North India.
 

The Most Rev. Pradeep Kumar Samantaroy was welcomed by family of the Diocese of Amritsar on 09 October 2014 at St. Paul's Church, situated Court Road, Amritsar. Mr. Daniel B Das, Director SEDP and Property Manager of the Diocese of Amritsar informed the press that the 15th Ordinary Meeting of the Synod of the Church of North India(CNI) was held at Sherwood College, Nainital from the 1st to the 4th of October, 2014. The Bishops of 27 Diocese and over 300 delegates of the Church of North India unanimously elected the Dy. Moderator and Bishop of the Amritsar Diocese Rt. Rev. Pradeep Kumar Samantaroy as the Moderator of the Church of North India. The Most Rev. Dr. P.P. Marandih, the outgoing 12th Moderator, announced that the Rt. Rev. P.K. Samantaroy had been installed as the 13th Moderator of the Church of North India. The Rt. Rev. Eric Nasir, Bishop of the Diocese of Amritsar became the 1st Moderator of the CNI. Thereafter, the Rt. Rev. Anand Chandu Lal, Bishop of the Diocese of Amritsar also became the 6th Moderator of the CNI. The Rt. Rev. Pradeep Kumar Samantaroy, Bishop of the Diocese of Amritsar became the 13th Moderator of the Church of North India.

After his installation as the Moderator of CNI, the Most Rev. Pradeep Kumar Samantaroy was welcomed by a large group of people belonging to the Diocese of Amritsar at the Airport in Amritsar and was brought to the St. Paul's Church, Court Road, Amritsar in a grand procession. He was warmly welcomed by the representatives of churches, heads of the various Institutions situated in Punjab, Himanchal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. Addressing the gathering the Most Rev. Pradeep Kumar Samantaroy expressed his gratitude to the Almighty for bestowing this responsibility, of serving the church, on him. He said that during the last three years, he had diligently served the church in his capacity as Dy. Moderator and would now continue to serve the Community through God's grace. He expressed his gratitude to the Almighty, all the 27 Bishops and over 15 lac people of the Church of North India who placed their trust in him. During the next three years of his service he would work towards spreading the Word and Love of Jesus Christ through Unity, Witness and Service. His priority would be in providing hostels and technical education to the youth and also upholding the Rights of Women, Children, Dalits and Tribals.

Rev. Ayub Daniel, Treasurer, Diocese of Amritsar welcomed the Moderator and the gathering and said that it was indeed an honour for the Diocese of Amritsar to have our Bishop elected as the Moderator of CNI. He was also welcomed by Rev. Sohan Lal, Vice President, Mrs. Vidhupriya Chakravarty, Secretary Diocesan Board of Education. Dr. Paul P.K. Rajindra, Secretary, NWFRBHS, Mr. Om Prakash, Project Officer, Diocesan Education Project, Mr. Bittu Masih, Coordinator, SEDP, Mrs. Alma Ram, Jagriti Bhalai Kendra, of the Diocese of Amritsar. Rev. Vijay Kumar, Secretary, Diocese of Amritsar proposed the vote of thanks. The entire program was coordinated by Mr. Daniel B. Das.
